I hate it. I really hate that expression. When I hear this expression, I know that it's time to get my gun, my dog, the beef jerky and run for the hills. They are trying to “screw” me.

I just had this conversation this afternoon. They want the photos, they want them hi-res, they want to publish them and they want the copyrights.

Canon 7D: 70-200/4IS lens hood frustration

The 70-200 with the 7D is a great combination, actually outstanding instead of great. Great lens, great camera, they go perfectly together. It's a very well balanced match, except for 1 point of frustration, the lens hood. Yes, the original lens hood provided by Canon, the ET-74.

I have a lot of problems putting the lens shade inside out in reverse to place the camera in the bag. It turns out that I'm not the only one to have this problem and Phil Mitchell gave me the solution.

Canon 7D — No autofocus, dead

Dead! I can't focus with my “70-200”. What happened? Did the lens die? Did my Canon 7D die? I don't know. But it's dead and no auto-focus. The manual focus seems to be working. It works when “chimping” on the LCD. So it looks like it's the auto part of the focus that doesn't work.

Next lens on the camera, the auto-focus works. Relief! It's either the lens or the combination of the camera and the lens. What's wrong? I pull the backup camera, a Canon 30D that was very cheap and bought it just for those occasions, and the auto-focus doesn't work either. Can't blame the camera and now I can't blame the combination lens/camera. Must be the lens. What's wrong with my “beloved” 70-200? Is it dead? It's still under warranty, but I don't have a backup lens for it.
