Archival CDs

DataMediaStore, among many others, offers DVDs with 100 years of archival and CDs with 300 years of archival for your photos and videos! Can you believe that? I do believe that the CD/DVD could last the 100 years if properly stored, but how are you going to read that CD/DVD?

Hardware

  1. I can't buy any new CDROM drive. CD Recorders are extremely rare.
  2. With Blue Ray having won the DVD war, how long will we be able to buy DVD burners?
  3. The expected life of the hardware is around 5 years.
