Foto-Biz.com: 3 Years Later

I started http://foto-biz.com 3 years ago in April 2008. I only “advertised” (made public) the website after writing 25 posts.

  • Mar-2011: 15,000 people
  • Redesigned the website three times
  • 923 posts in 3 years → 307 posts per year

I started http://foto-biz.com to do something different, but the “monster” grew. I spend on average 8 to 10 hours per week, writing, maintaining, updating the website. It's not just the writing and posting, it's also all the other maintenance like backups, keeping up with the security…

For Mar-2011:

  • I received 77,921 emails! Of which 75,661 were spam! Between the mail server and my email program, they've caught 75,592 spam emails or 99.92% of the spam! The rest is the good old delete key.
  • http://foto-biz.com was attacked 836 times in Mar-2011 alone. That's almost 27 times per day! Nobody broke in (I'm knocking on my desk as I say that). And no I'm not gloating, those are just my stats.
  • 4,585 searches. Most people look around and click around. Only 17.5% of the visitors use the search. Maybe it's because that the website is so well organized with the categories? Or I'm doing something wrong. I could use the “cloud tags” but I would be seriously penalized by Google for too many links.
