High Speed AI Servo Tracking

Here are my Canon 7D's settings for the high speed AI servo tracking. I also included a few photos taken over the weekend.

C.FnIII: Autofocus/Drive:

  • AI Servo tracking sensitivity: Setting #1: Slower than medium, but faster than slow.
  • AI Servo 1st/2dn img priority: Setting #2: 0: AF priority/Tracking priority.
  • AI Servo AF tracking method: Setting #3: 1: Continuous track priority.

Here's a serie of a dog running at Hadden Park, Vancouver, BC, Canada. Photos taken with Canon 7D and Canon 70-200/4L-IS lens. No processing, just watermark and resizing.

  1. I'm using AI Servo AF
  2. I'm using Single Point
  3. You will notice that 1 frame is missing between the 1st and the 2nd photo of the serie. It was fuzzy, due not to wrong focus but to the limit of the IS and the incompetency of the operator. There's only so much that the IS can do. I moved too much.
