C.Fn III -6 Select AF Area Selection Mode

Canon 7D: C.Fn III -6 Select AF area selection mode
The Canon 7D has 6 different focusing area modes. You can select which of the 5 auto focus area mode you want enabled:
- The full 19 auto focus points area
- The zone focus AF area
- The single focus point with expansion AF area
- The single focus point AF area
- The spot AF area
Where the 6th focusing mode? Face recognition AF area in live view mode only.
So why not have all of them enabled? My 2 main auto focus modes are the zone AF and the single point AF. So when I switch AF modes, it's between these 2 modes. It's faster for me, it's one or the other. I'm rarely in the wrong mode.
- Far away subject especially against busy backgrounds: Zone AF.
- Closer work or I don't want to focus on the nearest portion of the zone: single point AF.
- My preference is to have only 2 modes enabled: the zone focus and the single point.
- I wish the face recognition mode was an option with the regular focusing modes instead of always choosing the closest focus point.
- I wish the face recognition mode was significantly faster.
