Canon vs. Nikon
Let start the bloodshed. I mentioned that at the end of October I bought a Canon 7D, a couple of lenses, flash… I switched. Why did I switch?
- I needed more megapxiels. I charge for higher pixel count, just like Getty and iStockPhoto.
- I wanted the 70-200/4 IS. It's much smaller than the f/2.8 and easier to carry, I have a right arm injury.
I was at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary where they get thousands and thousands of Snow Geese in the winter. Why do all of these snow geese come to Reifel? Potatoes. Many of the farmers around Reifel grow potatoes and the snow geese that migrated from Siberia love to eat these potatoes. By the way, the federal government compensate the farmers for the “stolen” potatoes.
I usually come around 9 am, when there are very few people. I saw a dozen photographers, all of them, except for one, were Canons. Most of them were Canon 1DMk2, 1DMk3 and 1DsMk3 with 400/5.6, most of them with 600/4 and even one monster 800/5.6. A few of the photographers had 2 of the 1D serie! Those guys and gals don't mess around with their BIFs, birds in flight, photos.

Where's Nikon? MIA, missing in action.
I don't know your neck of the woods, but on the other hand in my neck of the woods, at the nearest photo club, you will get lynched if you don't have a Nikon. Only Nikon camera owners are “real photographers”. All the other camera owners are just “wanna be” photographers who haven't been enlightened yet.
