Canon: 60D Trash?

This morning, I was sitting at the coffee place, reading a book. This guy walks in, looks at me, and starts ranting and raving like a maniac:

That 60D, it's a piece of shit, I should have never listened to you!

Eeks? What's happening? Who's that turkey? What did I do? What did he do? I looked at the guy puzzled. He said:

You recommended to buy the 60D and it's a piece of shit!

Wait, what! I don't know the guy, he knows that I'm a photographer. I don't have a 60D, I've touched one, I've even tried one for an hour or so, but that's it. I don't call that expertise…

Me — What are you talking about? I don't even know you!
Him — You were talking with the guy about Canon, how much better… (I don't remember exactly) … I should have bought the D7000!

His problem is that many things do not work on the 60D when the camera is set on manual. No ±1 or ±2 on the exposure, Auto-ISO…

Yeah! And what's the problem? Manual is manual, it doesn't say semi-automatic. That's Canon R&D decision. Many other brands, like Pentax, allow for the ± when in manual mode with the trinity of the aperture, speed and ISO/auto-ISO.

What happened? I never spoke with this guy. Turns out that every few weeks, I have coffee with Danny, then somewhere, somehow, I mentioned that many people are complaining on various forums about problems with the D7000, mainly hot pixels and the auto-focus. He was listening to our conversation and somehow decided that I was recommending the 60D.

After a few minutes, he somewhat cooled, mumbled something that could have been an apology and left. Why do those things happen to me? Since I'm that lucky, why don't win the lotto? Maybe, it's because I don't buy Lotto tickets.

Turns out that he's not alone. I went to http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1019, the Canon 60D/7D… forum and there's a huge thread on Manual mode: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1019&message=37832001 with 130+ comments

Upon further thought, could it be that he started reading the thread and…
