I just had coffee with the friend of a friend. He wanted me to participate/invest in his new Internet venture, mostly the technical end. First he asked me to sign a non-compete agreement see: Non Compete Agreement

It's a new concept!
...
Trust me, it will be big...

I could have been convinced to participate, not for cash, but for sweat equity, my knowledge and my work, but these 2 words "Trust Me" always raise an alarm bell in my head. He must be trying to hide something. Why should I trust him? Because we both know Patrick? My father lost all of his money when I was a kid, because somebody said "Trust Me", he did and within 2 years he lost everything except for the apartment.

No real budget, no real cash, no real marketing plan, why should I trust him? After ½ hour, I told him that I wasn't interested, wished him good luck with his project and left.

As a photographer, how are you talking to other people and try to make your sale? Are you asking them to trust you or are you showing them? You can show them either by showing samples or giving them references.
