Stupid Racist

Vancouver, BC, has hundreds, thousands of coffee shops. Some of them are even very good. A couple of days ago, I met a John A, a photographer friend. He was with a friend of his, David P. We went to JJ Beans for coffee and to keep on talking.

I don't know how we got to talk about Obama and his health care reform, but it wasn't me who mentioned it, and we are in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, not in the US. We have “universal” health care. Everybody's covered. Is our health care perfect? Definitely not, but… David P. became very agitated and loud. He started calling people racist because they didn't agree with Obama. It was the day after Jimmy Carter called the people that didn't support Obama's health care reform as racist . Then out of the blue, he went into a tirade against the Jews and the Pro-Israel lobby!

  • Where did this came from?
  • I'm Jewish.
  • I told him that “I am Jewish and am insulted by his rant”.
  • I stood-up and left.

The same evening, John A. called to apologize. He didn't know where this came from? What was David's problem?

  1. John A. has often worked with David P. We'll see if he keeps on working with him.
  2. I have recommended other photographers for work that I don't do, many times see: How not to lose. I will never recommend him.
  3. I spoke with two other friends of mine and told them about David P. Both had the same reaction and said would “stay away” from him.

Whenever you speak about politics, religion or sensitive subjects, do it in your own circles only. I already mentioned something similar in: Religion
