Firing a photographer

I had an appointment with a photographer. The appointment was for 10:00am, we confirmed it over the phone the day before. I arrived 9:50am, I waited. 10:00am: he is not here, 10:05am: he's still not here and he has not called. 10:10am: still nothing and nobody. 10:15am: I left and I didn't call him. 10:45am: he called and screamed "Where are you? You are late!". I replied: "No, I waited until 10:15am, you were not there and you didn't call me to let know, so I left."

He was fuming. How could I do that? That wasn't his fault, the traffic, the weather...

Get lost

  1. Yes, it was his fault: he could have called.
  2. My time is very precious to me.
  3. If he could not be on time or let me know that he would be late, how do I know, that he would deliver the photos on time and on budget? I would say unlikely!

Reliability

  1. Reliability is never the number one factor for deciding to use this or that photographer.
  2. Reliability is the number one killer for deciding not to use a photographer.
  3. Reliability is the number one killer for badmouthing a photographer.

How reliable are you? When somebody looks for a photographer, reliability is never their number one priority.

  • Make reliability part of your marketing.
  • Show in your marketing how reliable you are.
