How To Make $1,000 A Week In Your Spare Time From Your Photography
I regularly see these ads:
- Make $1,000 A Week In Your Spare Time From Your Photography
- Start Your Own Photography Business from Home
- How to Start a Profitable Photography Business
With all the people being laid off, I see much more of these ads, or may be I am paying more attention. All these ads' goal is to sell you a self-printed book, a set of CDs/tapes, a few even have DVDs with the price ranging from $29.99 to $399.
So let me save you that money and summarize how to make $1,000 a week in your spare time from your photography.
- Buy their marketing material
- Buy a BIG camera. Some of these guys still talk about film cameras.
- Advertise in the local papers and on Craig's List.
- Don't worry about the quality of your photos, just make sure that you take many, many photos. A couple of them will turn out OK. I'm not making this up. I already wrote about it in: Everyone Can Be A Professional Photographer!
- Stock/Microstock. Get model releases and just dump all of your unsold photos onto the microstock market.
- How much should you charge? Check the websites of your competitors and you will see their prices and/or get family/friends to phone the other photographers.
This still doesn't tell you how to make $1,000 a week from your photography. Here's the secret: spend $2,000 a week in advertising for the first year, then if you last that long the business will be "rolling".
So how do you really make $1,000 profit a week from your photography:
- It's not a spare time activity.
- Spend half of your time marketing, selling your photos and services.
- Spend a quarter of your time running your photography business.
- Spend the remaining time, if there is any time left, making photos.
