The Newspaper Association of America purpose is to promote the value of print as opposed to online-only products. John Sturm, the president of the Newspaper Association of America, wrote in a memo to his employees that the staff reductions were to:
- Ensure we remain an affordable value to our members
- Further reduce member dues
