Build A Brand

How do you raise your prices? The standard answer is to build a brand. Oh Yeah? What does it means to build a brand? How many photographers have built a brand? Two or three dozen of photographers have done it. Here are some:

  • Henri Cartier-Bresson
  • Edward Weston
  • Yusuf Karsh
  • Joe McNeally
  • Ernst Haas
  • Dorothy Lange
  • Richard Avedon...

And a few others. These are the only few from 100 million plus professional photographers[1][1]. I'm not one of these established brands. Can I become a brand? No, I don't think so, neither can you! To become a brand you must encompass much more than your own circle of friends and acquaintances. You must go passed the imaging industry. So cut the "crap". It's much more important to:

  • Network with people through associations...
  • Network with the media by offering them unusual stories for their slow days...
  • Show your work...
  • Talk to people in the street when you have your camera
  • Work on your blog
