An Army March On Its Stomach
An Army March On Its Stomach
An army march on its stomach.
— Napoleon Bonaparte
A long photo shoot is like an army on maneuvers. You need a goal, a strategy, and the logistics to accomplish your goal. I very rarely have assistants, but many people help and even more people watch me jump up and down, crawl on the ground trying to get a good angle.
Depending on how long the photo shoot will be, I will usually bring some food. It ranges from lox, bagel and cream cheese to donuts, muffins and cinnamon buns. I often send somebody to pickup pop/water and coffee. Depending on the work load and the intensity, a food break will break the tension, relax people. Everybody's invited, even the people not directly involved in the photo shoot. This often means 10 to 20 people. A dozen muffins, a dozen cinnamon buns, and coffee cost me around $35, a great investment.
Food is a great way of thanking everybody for their participation and/or their cooperation. Catering had a much unexpected reward when I met Ron D. which I wrote about in Referrals.
